I enjoy working with habitat because ensuring that others have a decent/safe home to raise their family in is one of the most impactful ways to change their lives, for the better. I also enjoy traveling, camping and hiking.

I work with Habitat for Humanity because eliminating substandard housing is very important. Through the years, I have seen the direct impact that our Habitat affiliate has had within the community. Both for the families we serve, along with the volunteers that see immediate results from giving of their time, talent, and treasure. Together we build up our community, giving a hand up that positively affects generations to come with one safe, stable, and affordable home at a time.

I am passionate about helping people improve their lives. I feel so fortunate to share this purpose with my employer and now also have the opportunity to serve on Habitat’s Board. Habitat’s mission is to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Safe and affordable shelter is something that many of us take for granted, but it is really a foundation for success economically, socially, physically, and mentally.

There are many rewarding things about working with Habitat. We have dedicated staff who look for innovative ways to continue our mission. Our core volunteers dedicate countless hours of often skilled labor. Our programs truly prepare our partner families for the responsibilities of being a homeowner.

I have served on the board for 3 years. Habitat is such a special organization because the people who volunteer work tirelessly to provide opportunities for stability and safety through homeownership. The pathway to homeownership is not easy. The people I get to serve with dedicate their time and love to making this difficult dream an arm reach away. I love seeing people pull their resources just to enhance the lives of others; and I love seeing the people we serve grow their opportunities. Being able to play the smallest role is such a blessing.

I love working with Habitat for Humanity because it is an organization that Builds Hope for families that have struggled for too long. It brings families and volunteers together for one simple purpose, Building Dreams for the Future!

I am proud to be involved with Habitat for Humanity because we offer a hand up and not a handout. We give people the opportunity to change their lives and potentially impact future generations within that household. For me, I was fortunate to become a homeowner at an early age. The sense of pride and accomplishment I felt is something that I feel Habitat strives to do for our families.

I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors with Habitat for Humanity BG/WC. I believe in the mission of helping families achieve their dream of homeownership and economic, physical and emotional benefits that flow from that. Serving alongside others who are committed to making their community a better place for everyone is a joy.

Both my faith and my sense of civic duty lead me to the understanding that we are called to help those
less fortunate than us. I know of no way to answer that call which is better than service through
Habitat. It has been my pleasure to help a bit with Habitat work over the years and it is a natural step to
accept the invitation to serve on the Board. Plus, I enjoy it!
